BMI Calculator

Calculate your Body Mass Index from height and weight in metric or imperial units, see your WHO category, and get the healthy weight range for your height.

About this BMI Calculator

BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared, with WHO adult categories: under 18.5 underweight, 18.5–24.9 normal, 25–29.9 overweight, 30+ obesity. The healthy-weight range shows what weight would put your BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 for your height.

BMI is a screening measure, not a diagnosis — athletes with high muscle mass can score "overweight" while being very fit. Consult a healthcare professional for personal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Is BMI accurate for everyone?
It is a population-level screen. It does not distinguish muscle from fat and can mislead for athletes, the elderly and children — use it as a starting point only.
What formula is used?
BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)². Imperial inputs are converted to metric first.
Are the categories different for children?
Yes, children use age-and-sex-specific percentiles. This calculator implements adult categories only.
